          The Central library was established in the year 2001. In 2008 when the library was shifted to its main building. It is housed in a four storeyed building located at the eastern side in the main building. The library spreads over an area of 1197.86 Sq.m. The Library of our college stands as an epitome of intellectual elegance and source of technical education, in particular to Engineering and Technology. The Library is well equipped with unique features and world - class infrastructure to support and encourage scholarly communication and professional development. With the state-of-the-art technology, the users can access the print, digital and visual resources online throughout the campus. The fully computerized central library is well equipped with modern facilities and resources in the form of books, printed and electronic journals, CD-ROMs, on-line databases, project reports, etc. Open Access System is being followed to access the books and journals.

The digital library is equipped with sufficient no of computers and are connected with both Wi-Fi and LAN for fast and seamless access of the Internet for streaming NPTEL lectures and using e-Resources for the benefit of its users.

To motivate the students for the effective utilization of the available library resources through updated information technology facilities and to facilitate the user satisfaction by providing high quality service.

OBJECTIVES

To translate the quality policy of the college, the central library is committed to meet the expectations of the library users by maintaining excellence in library systems, procedures and services through

¤ Providing value added services that continuously meet the requirements of the library users.

¤ Developing a team oriented works environment that encourages continuous quality improvement and effective staff and user interface to ensure continuous improvement in library services.

ABOUT THE LIBRARY

  • ♦ It is well equipped with reference books, textbooks, journals, magazines and newspapers etc.
  • ♦ All the books are bar-coded and bar-code laser scanners are used at the circulation counter for book transactions.
  • ♦ CCTV surveillance system with 17 cameras is functioning in the library.
  • ♦ All Books are classified according to D.D.C Scheme.
  • ♦ Seating capacity of the library is 300.
  • ♦ Provides Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) service to its users in addition to the other usual services.
  • ♦ Provides photocopying and printing facilities.
  • ♦ 32 terminals with head phones and mikes are available in the Digital Library section with Internet access facility to facilitate access to the DELNET, NPTEL, e-books and IEEE ASPP online resources.
  • ♦ It is a main source of knowledge, which is an integral and important part of our institute for higher learning.
  • ♦ The library aims to stock all the books and periodicals that the students and staff members are expected to read and enrich their knowledge.



MEMBERSHIP

The library has an Institutional Membership with several external libraries such as DELNET, BMESI. Our Institution has Institutional life members in Institution of Engineers (India)(IEI), Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering (IETE) and Instrument Society of India (ISI).

LIBRARY COMMITTEE

The Library Advisory Committee looks after the operational and functional matters of the Library. The Committee consists of Principal, Librarians, Deans, HOD's and Senior faculty members.

Rules and Regulations

  • ♦ The College Library functions from 8.00 a.m. to 7.15 p.m. on all working days. Library remains closed on Sundays and Public Holidays.
  • ♦ Strict silence shall be maintained in the library premises.
  • ♦ Members entering the library shall keep their personal belongings outside the library.
  • ♦ Except loose sheets, no personal belongings like notebooks, notes, other books, bags, files and library books already issued will be allowed inside the library.
  • ♦ It is mandatory that the students as well as the faculty should register their entry and exit by flashing their ID at the scanner.
  • ♦ The library follows OPEN ACCESS SYSTEMS. Readers should leave the books taken out from the shelves on the table after reference. They shall not replace the books on shelves.

Lending

  • ♦ The ID card should always be available with the student.
  • ♦ ID card is not transferable.
  • ♦ Lending of books will only be on production of valid ID cards.
  • ♦ Members shall not share or allow others to use their Bar-coded ID cards to borrow books.
  • ♦ The books should be returned within a fortnight from the date if issue. Students, who are returning the books after due date, shall have to pay a fine at the rate of Rs. 1.00 per day of delay for another 10 days and Rs. 5.00 per day thereafter.
  • ♦ Journals and Magazines will not be issued.
  • ♦ The Staff / Students shall return the books as and when they are called back by the librarian.
  • ♦ Before borrowing the book, the member must make sure that the book lent is in good condition and the pages are intact.
